We have a highly qualified nursing team with specialist training in chronic diseases. Zoe, Jenna, Lisa & Lesley-Anne our Practice Nurses, our Health Care Assistants, Tracy, Eleanor, Joanne & Melanie. They are able to advise and administer travel inoculations, vaccinations, dressings, blood tests, point of care INR (Warfarin), ear syringing, ECG etc.
The Nurses undertake a range of routine management of patients with Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, Heart Disease, Stroke/TIA and High Blood Pressure. – See our Long Term Conditions.
Childhood Immunisations
If your child is due an immunisation, you should be sent a reminder from the child health. For children at secondary school this will come from the school. Immunisations prevent serious diseases. Coil Clinics
BEFORE your coil fitting appointment

Choose an IUS or IUD – each have different pros and cons both are over 99% effective but do not protect against STIs.
New Coil:
We cannot fit a coil if there is a chance you could be pregnant. We will not proceed if you have had unprotected sex within 3 weeks of the fitting. Please
use your current contraception up to and including 7 days after the fitting.
Replacing a Coil:
We advise no sex for 7 days prior to the appointment.
The fitting can be uncomfortable please ensure you have eaten and to take ibuprofen and or paracetamol 30-60 minutes prior to your appointment.
The appointment is 30 minutes but please allow at least 45 minutes as the fitting can cause period pains after. Avoid making big plans after the appointment especially exercise. It is normal to have period pain and light bleeding for a few days after fitting so please bring sanitary towel with you.
AFTER the fitting
It is normal to get period pains and light bleeding for a few days after the fitting.
Please check for your threads a few times during the first month and every month ongoing.
Please continue current contraception for 7 days after the coil fitting
No tampons or SI for the first 3 days
**Important **
Please seek medical attention if you have strong abdominal pain or cramping, prolonged or heavy bleeding, fever, unwell or smelly discharge. These can be signs of infection.
Social Prescribing
Social Prescribing can help you to feel happier and healthier by encouraging you to join activities in your local area. It is designed to support you if you struggle with your physical or mental health or well-being.
Group activities include things like gardening, walking, eating healthy food, dancing, craft groups, cooking, swimming, yoga and circuit training.
Social prescribing can also help you get advice on housing, debt advice, training, employment and volunteering, and access to mental health support.
Speak to reception to book with the Health & Wellbeing coaches for your initial conversation on what they can do to help you.
Maternity Services
**** Coronavirus isolation ***** This is an uncertain and anxious time for everyone who is pregnant or recently had a baby. If you have any queries or questions or need to talk to a midwife please call this number 01872 258000
This line has been launched to take all maternity related calls from women, birthing people and their families and is staffed by wonderful midwives, 24 hours a day. If you are worried please do call.
Midwife clinics are held either at your home or at Falmouth Health Centre.
The midwives can be contacted by ringing them on their direct line on 01326 430070. In an emergency the midwives can be contacted on 01208 251300
The booking of your first appointment is usually at about 8-10 weeks of your pregnancy. The appointment takes about an hour and can take place at your home or at the clinic.

Other Services
Psychology and Counselling Service – Provided by Outlook South West which is contracted to the Primary Care Trust (PCT). Appointments can be booked via self referral on 01208 871905.
Echocardiogram Service – Provided by Echogenicity which is contracted to the PCT. It is open to the whole PCT and provides a quick and local diagnostic test and report. Access is via Choose & Book via a referral by your GP.
Ultrasound Service – Provided by Peninsula Ultrasound which is contracted to the PCT. It is open to the whole of the Cornwall and Scilly Isles PCT and provides a quick and local diagnostic test and report. Access is via Choose & Book via a referral from your GP.
PIP service – This service provides clinics most days.
